Janelle Monáe tightropes on bitches faces at Lopez tonight | Live performance
Another live performance of "Tightrope". You know the deal... She shut it down. She killed it. She made other chicks in the game look redundant. But the real clincher is that this shit was more electric than her Letterman performance. What a difference a more participant crowd and some funky lighting can make!

I hate that all these hot performances on popular TV personality shows are coming in now. Where the hell were they two to three months ago!? The ArchAndroid could have had a better first week of sales had Janelle been hitting up Letterman, Ellen and Lopez tonight before the album dropped. But at least she's getting spots on these shows full stop. There's no reason why sales won't pick up. Well actually, there's a list of reasons. But this is more promotion than I thought Janelle would get in the first place, so I'm happy for her.

I'd love for Janelle to perform "Cold war" (which was actually released as a single) at one of her show stops. I think the song could do big things for her album as it has a much more widespread sound. It may be ignorant of me to say, but "Tightrope" might be a little too black for everybody to get on board with at this stage.

  1. I'm really hoping her album starts to get picked up on, and becomes a slow burner in terms of sales, steadily rising. It's that good of an album. She's just really needs a chance to be heard by a large audience, and get people talking her. These talks shows are nice, but they don't get the kind of exposure somebody like Janelle needs. Her shit needs to be BIG.

This woman has WAY too much talent to just fall by the waste side because people can't see it. I know Diddy doesn't promote shit, but he genuinely seems to have an interest in Janelle and the well being of her career. I really hope she can blow up like she should.

And I agree with "Cold War". That song is incredible, better than "Tightrope" IMO, and it could be explosive live and really get people talking.

  2. Damn, I think that's the first time I've ever heard her speak. And I love her speaking voice. She sounds so classy and educated, and her tone is just...sexy.
