Music video: Namie Amuro - Only you

This is the type of video Beyonce wanted to shoot for "Cater 2 U", and went as far as to slash Kelly Rowland's Range rover tyres and take pliers to Michelle's heels to ensure she could shoot it. Too bad that Michelle chose to wear flats and that Kelly had just taken out road recovery on the day of the shoot.

The horse was giving me more than Namie was. And if you looked really closely at the 2:34 mark, you could see Ayu's "Next level" Cadillac in one corner of the shot and one of her leopard Guilty bangles in the other.

I had a thing for ♪ Ze only sing dat can torch me......iz oooo ♪ when I heard the previews. But having watched this video and heard the song in full all I could think was 'Damn. I pretty much heard the whole song and watched the entire in those previews'. Namie's vocals don't climax at any point in the song save for some off key ♪ Oooorneee ooooooooooooooooo-woooo. Ooooorneee yooooo-oooo-wooo ♪ And the lack of a true bridge was disappointing. I still like this song, I just feel it could have been more. And I could not understand a f**k she was singing in that first verse. I admire Namie for having the courage to sing this entire song in Namiengrish. But I need a Japanese version in my wife. I mean life.

"Hot girls", "In the spotlight (Tokyo)" and "Let's go" are going to have to be 'give hoes cancer, cure their cancer, give them a wig and then snatch it back' amazing for me not to toss this album aside like a pair of old socks.

Crystal's Vivid is going to be that crack which throws Stay miserable under onto the tracks of the Shinano railway line. But we know who will be cleaning kitchen floors with their own wig come release day.

  1. Well that was extremely repetitive. I feel like this is a gimmic song in the sense that her album is not going to have much new material so "hey kids" Namie sings in english. Isn't she so cool, no wonder she's the queen, blah blah blah. Just my opinion.

  2. Mediocre song aside, this is the most emotion that I have seen in Namie's face in ages. I don't know what type of electric shock therapy they had to use to get her face unfrozen, but I am happy she pulled off a convincing smile. In the age of unimpressive music from Namie, you have to look for the little successes to keep your spirit energized.

    1. Then you never watched her Live-Tours ;) Aside from her Live-Tours, the "deadface" is her trademark. But in ballads she smiles alot. Check out her other new songs like "Get Myself Back" "tempest" or "The Meaning Of Us"... I dont know why everybody is complaining about her because she shows too little emotion. (which is only half true) THATS Namie! And I really like that.

    2. Namie's DEAD and miserable face and vocals is what drew me to her. I heard "Put 'em up". I saw "Put 'em up". I fell in love. I bought STYLE and never looked back.

  3. I didn't know that this was her own personal trademark. I thought it was just an attribute that certain fans put on her that she was unaware of. If she is owning it and controlling it, then more power to her. Also, I haven't seen her Live-Tours. I wish I could. I would especially be interested in seeing a tour from her "Play" album.

  4. The video and the song do absolutely nothing for me.

    Next.

In regard to her image, I was never a fan of her seemingly "lack of display of emotion". In the past her "I'm cool and collected" vibe seemed forced and unconvincing. In recent years I've noticed she seems more relaxed and natural. She has definitely come a long way. Regardless, I'm still a fan of hers and always will be.

I can't wait to hear the other three songs. I'm really excited to see the "hot girls" PV.

  5. ^This PV is dusty. (Pun not intended), and I don't expect the Hot Girls Pv to be anything exciting either. I'm expecting lots of shots of Namie walking down a runway in different outfits looking like she wants her life to be over. Even if the pv is wack she will STILL look better than your faves with her lifeless swagger. Your faves could never...

  6. Namie Amuro is doing fine, in fact out of all the Asian pop divas she's the only one that has been consistently good and actually selling a lot. Everyone else has been flopping these past years.

  7. ^ - Go Round/Yeah-Oh kinda flopped.... but whatever, she was the only female in the top 5 that week full of boring groups.

I'm not really into the pv, it's nice, and cute... but boring, but i'm happy for her, she was smiling! She looks gorgeous and the song is catchy, i love it. Her english is fine, i can udnerstand everything she's singing. Good for her to take those risks. I hope her new album 'uncontrollable' or something like that (yes that's the title i can already imagine the covers with her watching your soul just like in past future) does good at the oricon. I saw a photo of her of the filming of 'in the spotlight' i guess it was, looking hot! I hope those are great pv's.

  8. pop has a lot of room for gimmicky stuff. I don't think she intentionally sang more Jenglish to impress ppl. But her Jenglish is .... a bit doubtful.

  9. Few new songs in new album. thats a surprise. but done before by KodaKumi and Utada.

  12. I loved all of her singles she released in this era.. but I do not like this song at all. Video is amazing, but song sucks. Hopefully the other three tracks will make up for it.

  13. "Yeah oh" may have only hit No4 but it still went Gold, having said that everything since the "Past<Future" era ended has been pretty dusty and this is the dustiest of the lot and not because it was shot in a desert.
