The Sugababes sit and talk about the good ol' One Touch days with Clara Amfo | Random J Pop

Ever since the Sugagabes made their official comeback and let it be known that they are now rightfully using their original name, all has been quiet on the news front. They share Instagram stories every now and then to let us know that they're working on music, but fans are still in the dark.

Given how fickle the music industry is, how everything fell to shit with their original roll-out as Mutya Keisha Siobhan and what the climate has become, it's understandable why they'd keep their cards close to their chest.

But the Sugababes appeared on BBC presenter Clara Amfo's podcast This City, marking one of the first real sit down and in depth interviews that the girls have done since reforming, and it uncovers all manner of gems.

The girls don't offer up anything new in terms of what is coming up, but they do talk a lot about their time during One touch and reveal a hell of a lot that will be new to fans. This is a period in their career that we never got to hear much about, as a line gone drawn under it once Siobhan left and Heidi joined. And even when the girls reformed as Mutya Keisha Siobhan, all of the press attention was on what made them reform. So it's nice to hear the girls talk about One Touch retrospectively and divulge into so many details about that time, how they felt and give the full story on how they came together, beyond the now well known story of 'Keisha and Mutya going to school together and then meeting Siobhan through a friend'. It turns out that Mutya and Siobhan were originally due to debut as solo artists.

The conversation around One Touch makes complete sense, because this was the only point in the Sugababes career where Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan were in the line-up. And with the podcast being about growing up in London and their experience of growing up in London being the formation of the Sugababes and putting out an album together, it's relevant. But, it may also be a subtle form of unknowing promo, as they do mention that they have something coming for the 20th anniversary of One Touch, something that also mentioned when they appeared on the Graham Norton show back in October. So it looks like we'll definitely be getting something for that. Although that's quite some time away, as One Touch released in November.

In other Sugababes related news, "Flatline" has been removed from streaming services and I'm pressed. I'm hoping it will resurfaced under the Sugababes, but who-the-fuck knows.
