Album art + tracklist: Christina Aguilera - Liberation

Christina Aguilera - Liberation | Random J Pop

After spinning chairs on The Voice for years and leaving folk wondering if she even wants to bother continuing with this music shit, Christina Aguilera is coming back with a brand new album Liberation. Marking her first release in 6 years, following the crash 'n' burn flops that were Bionic and Lotus.

Between the album title, the black 'n' white cover and the R&B flavour of its lead single "Acelerate", followed by the female empowerment message in her duet with Demi Lovato, Liberation is shaping up to be the follow-up to Stripped that Christina had denied fans in favour of going swing throwback, trying to chase being hip and then whatever the hell that Lotus album was.

I can't wait to hear the Keida and Shenseea joint. It will either be the biggest bop ever, or it will be a complete Mario Kart-blue-shell-impact-ass-mess. I really am not trying to hear Christina serve me Patois or give me an X-rated version of Mariah and Damian Marley's "Cruise control". But I really do want to hear Christina serve me Patois or give me an X-rated version of Mariah and Damian Marley's "Cruise control".

I'm also really looking forward to the song "Pipe", because I had no idea Christina was a Super Mario Bros. fan.

Producers on the album include Kanye 'Minstrel' West, Anderson Paak and London born producer MNEK. MNEK has been quietly contributing to some of today's biggest pop stars. Beyoncé's Lemonade, Kylie Minogue's Kiss me once and Madonna's Rebel heart all feature his name in their liner notes as a songwriter. But this marks the first time that MNEK will be credited as a producer on a big ol' global release from a US pop star. MNEK's style is varied and Christina is a chameleon, so trying to even guess what their song "Deserve" could sound like is impossible. But he stans for a woman with vocals, so you can bet that Christina will be SANGIN' on the song.

As is the case with all of her releases, Liberation features a host of poppin' and up and coming songwriters. Ranging from the hit maker Julia Michaels to Teddy Geiger, the silent assassin that is Bibi Bourelly of "Bitch better have my money" fame, Ricky Reed and LunchMoney Lewis amongst many others.

I have no expectations of this release. But I have a feeling it will be one of those albums which is good, but only has 1 or 2 definitive songs that would make good singles, but never get released. But least Christina is supporting this shit with a tour, which will give this album a greater shot at commercial success than Bionic and Lotus ever stood chances of.
