Kumi Koda throws it back at the 2009 FNS music festival
Kumi Koda appeared on Fuji television's FNS music festival, where she donned a classy get-up, an odd coloured and styled hair-do, and serenaded guests with a Japanese oldie...

Don't worry. This wasn't a performance of Kumi's new song and a showcase of the direction she's going in for her next album. It was a cover of Momoe Yamaguchi's hit song from the 70's "Ii hi tabidachi". I thought Kumi did an amazing job with it. Kumi has such an old voice on her, that she can pull off classic sounding songs with such ease and sounds like a perfect suit. I wouldn't even be mad at her if she went and dropped a song like this on an album of hers - because it really does highlight the strength of her vocals.

Once again, Kumi kept it movin' with the hair. Going for some bleached out, pinky looking do that had her looking like Alisa Boskonovitch from Tekken 6. She looked lovely though.

Comments

  1. She sounds great, she should sing songs that showcase her voice more. I agree she does look lovely.

  2. She sounded very nice; she should do a lounge/jazz sort of album in the future, like Robbie Williams did. Or maybe she could cover a Bond theme, she'd sound great on those.
    P.S. is her hair pink?

  3. That pink/orange hair color is pretty common over there :D
