Album art: Chris Brown - F.A.M.E

Am I the only one getting Michael Jackson and Prince vibes from this? Please somebody say No, so I know I'm not going crazy.

Initially I really disliked this. But the more I looked at it, the more I liked it. It's colourful, creative, a bit cheesy, very 80's and made for vinyl LP sleeves. I think Chris may have just used his Greatest hits album cover and title lifeline with this though.

  1. I think it looks kind of cheap myself. The main picture looks cool but everything around it and in the background (including that horrible looking font for the word F.A.M.E) looks bad, in my opinion.

  2. I thought exactly the same thing at first. I typed a whole damn essay on why I hated this album cover initially.

My original gripes were: the picture (which I thought / still think does Chris' face no favours) and the font used for F.A.M.E.

But the more I looked at the image as a whole, the more everything seemed to fit. If they went with a plainer, sharper font for F.A.M.E, it would have looked odd, too plain and too clean. And if the artwork of Chris was drawn SO close to life, they may as well have just used a photo.

The background should have been more varied though; and perhaps been a vast collage of torn out media pics and magazine articles, as opposed to the same nonsense image pasted several times with variations of saturation.
