Music video: Namie Amuro - Damage

I can't stand this song. I have tried to like this, but it's hard to. Because it's Namie trying to do rock. I commend Namie to tapping into a style she's not done much with in a while. But girl...rock is NOT the one. I really liked the video though, up until I began seeing the same shots and the same dead dance routine, shown from the same dead angles for 3 minutes straight. Not to mention that the whole video concept was just "Break it" with Namie dancing in trousers instead of a skirt and caressing a mirror instead of a motorcycle. Yes, she looked good. And yes she was sat on that chair and walking through the broken fragments of Ayu's last 2 physical releases like she owned the whole of Japan and has Michelle Obama picking cotton to make her next ruffled skirt. But the whole thing was boring to watch.

♪ I can he diz day-mage! ♪

When is this woman going to learn how to do the splits and pound her p***y into the floor like Minzy from 2NE1? I really feel this is an evolutionary step that Namie needs to take. Along with somebody introducing her to some new foot wear, because dem boots is tired.

  1. I actually like the song (other than the english lyrics which make no sense?)

Video may have been boring, but at least she's moving, that's a start. Girl finally had a can of coffee before stepping in front of the camera.

The whole image from the wardrobe to the single cover is pretty nasty though. It's like Perfume's worst dress meets F(x)'s Electric Shock.

  2. Yeah. ........

I still don't get where this song came from our why it's here.

    It doesn't accomplish anything.

Has a tinge of ayumi hamaSUCKI release whore to it, because there really was no need.

She shouldn't have. She really shouldn't have.

  3. Meh, there was nothing interesting about this video. Besides, this remix from the making of video sounds a lot better:

  4. I'm wondering why this song was released as well, and why the video looks as though it got a bigger budget than the last five pvs off of Uncontrolled. The video was okay, but I still think the song is trash. Overall, this is a throwaway release.

  5. I seem to be the only person that really likes this song. I think if her vocals were stronger itd make it better as a whole but...

I still dont get why everyone hated Angela Akis WHITE too. Sounded the same as her other albums to me.

    1. That was a part of the problem with white. It was a watered down flop version of shit she's done before. With that being said, it def wasn't as bad as Life. Dem English tracks on Life were some shit you would hear at Costco (or wherever elderly ppl in your area that have one foot in the retirement home love to shop). White should have been a mini album for one thing. Those remakes of Home and Moral no Soshiki were unnecessary, especially since the originals were far superior. Grandfather Clock was on that Life shit, one family and that other track that I forget the name of because it's that irrelevant were boring. The only songs from white that I think are good are Julio, Honesty, and Tsugaru Kaikyo, with Tsugaru being the best by far of the three. Also, Answer is a great Album by Angela, it's really an insult to say that white is on par with it. I really liked Home as well. Also, Today is pretty good, but I would rank below Answer and Home in terms of quality.

  7. the song is ok, but the sets and the choreography are both AMAZING!

oh she can split! she's done it during the 90s in a CM, though i can't remember what CM it is, but i know she can split :)

  8. I've never heard this song in full, until now? i don't think that shit was full, but well. Her make up makes her dead look even stronger, i can watch her eyes all day.

Bitch won't do splits and shit, that's what drag queens do, and Minzy from 2ne1 looks like a tomboy, she might have a penis, idk.

"Breikah mah shell" I can't stand that line

  9. i love when you drag namie's engrish, i live for that shit.

  10. At least the song's more stucurally in place than Its All About You. That's a compliment, right?

    1. "It's all about you" was hot. Took me a while to warm to it, but I grew to love it. It didn't seem all that out of place on the album to me. And despite it's rock overtones, it was still glossy, pop and not outside of the scope of what Namie had done on 'Queen of hip pop' and released as singles from 'Play'. And I loved how frenetic that song was. There was so much energy about it and Namie gave sass.

Where-as "Damage" just feels flat to me. "Wonder woman" was a better working of rock than this.

  11. ^I actually enjoyed it's All About You, it was catchy and she pulled rock off well in that instance imo. My only problem with it is how out of place it sounded on Play.

  12. Er what would you rather have pre-R&B Namie (JPop, Parapara etc) or Rock Namie?

Well at least it's not dubstep Namie lol
