Kumi Koda set to revive Black cherry and Japonesque via a new tour

It's been a while since I posted on Kumi Koda, because nothing she's done or put out has really been of note. But her upcoming tour is an interesting one.

Kumi will be holding what she's referring to as a 'Re-live tour', which will be a throwback to her 2007 album Black cherry and her 2013 release Japonesque. Two albums from a point in time when she was poppin' and her music wasn't a complete mess.

Oh. And Kumi Koda will be performing these 2 gigs in one day.

C'MON CAPTAIN AMNIOTIC FLUID. You better work bitch.

Of course my shady ass immediately thought of Namie Amuro's Past < Future as soon as I saw dates with arrows and Kumi serving a throwback. I know Namie is thinking the same thing and cackling at all of this.

These gigs will be focused on her Black cherry and Japonesque albums and their respective tours, but will be re-imagined and feature far more elaborate stage production with the 2019 money and resource that she didn't have back when she toured these albums the first time around. On one hand, I'm like 'That's cool' and on the other, I'm like, 'Y tho?'. I guess it will be cool hearing her take on older songs with new arrangements, and it will also give her a chance to dip into songs from both of these albums that she rarely performs. This type of tour concept would have been better if it were flanked by a Best release, but I guess it'll help get some extra streams out of Black cherry and Japonesque if nothing else. Both of which are far better albums than what she's released over the past 5 years, and that's coming from somebody who didn't like either of those albums.

Kumi will also be releasing a digital single "Eh yo" on July 3rd, a song which will be used as part of a national promotional campaign for the 2019 Rugby world cup, which is being held in Japan and kicks off in September. But until then, Namie Amuro's "Hero", the theme for the Japanese broadcast of the 2016 Summer Olympics is available for streaming on Apple music.
