Liz stays denying us all an album. But at the very least we're getting singles and guest features. Fresh off of her collab with Slayyyter is "BTR 2GTHR" a song co-written by Kim Petras, whose music I don't listen to because it's all produced by Dr. Puke and iCannot.

As soon as I heard "BTR 2GTHR" I immediately thought that it sounded like a cross between a Hannah Diamond and a Charli XCX song. Liz herself even sounds like Charli XCX during the chorus. If this helps Liz get some stray streams or a cash-in on Charli XCX's fanbase, then cool. But as somebody who has listened to Liz since the days of Just like you, I want to hear Liz. Not Liz sounding like Charli XCX.

Liz seems to be in this weird place where her sound is concerned. She hopscotches between old skool Garage and 2-step, which is the sound she came out with, and these sing-a-long type songs which sound like Charli XCX once she started working with A.G. Cook and his P.C Music crew. It's always the songs which are of the latter variety that get the most streams, likes and get the most traction, even though for the most part, they're the songs that do the worst job of helping Liz stand out from the crowd; despite being really good songs.

I don't know who is calling the shots over at Camp Liz, but homegirl needs an A&R who has some type of vision of Liz having a sound that's hers and there being an album. Because songs like "Dancing in the dark" and "BTR 2GTHR" are cute for for Topshop playlists of the moment, but they have no longevity and do nothing to put Liz front and centre.

It's a real shame that Liz hasn't blown up, because she did everything years ago that chicks now who are catching success are doing.

And I stay mad that "When I rule the world" wasn't a smash. Bitch, if that didn't cross Liz over then...
