Crystal Kay releases new song "Beautiful" out of fucking nowhere | Random J Pop

Crystal Kay has a new song out. Just like that. No big announcement. No music video. Not even her face on the single cover.

LDH really don't care about Crystal like that, but we done knew this already.

Crystal Kay's latest digital single is titled "Beautiful" and features as the theme to a film of the same name. It would have fit right in on her 12th studio album For you. In fact, it would have fit just as well on Shine and *chokes* even Vivid.

It's a really nice song. It reminds me of "Waiting for you", but less hard-hitting, less 80s and with a more typically Japanese arrangement. Nothing to run home about, but one of the better releases Crystal has given us in a while. I definitely could have done with Crystal lacing this stacks of vocal layering though. The song feels like it has so much breadth and space just for her to run rampant with all the layering. But the last album she bothered with giving us more than 3 tracks of vocals was 11 years ago with Color change!. So I guess that ship is as good as sailed.

Not only does LDH have EXILE and their fiddy'lem sub-units releasing all the music, but they have them starring in films as well. EXILE have a movie side gig called the Cinema fighters project which is executive produced by EXILE member Hiro, and releases films starring members of EXILE through LDH pictures. These aren't some random ass budget, straight to Blu-Ray films though. These are legit movies. Beautiful is directed by Japanese film legend Takashi Miike.

Crystal has said that she would like to try her hand at more acting. With two stint on Broadway to her name, it's surely only a matter of time until she has a co-lead role in a movie. I don't think Japan is quite there yet to be having Japanese movies come out with a black girl as the lead and on all of the posters.
