SZA & Justin Timberlake Troll everybody with "The Other Side"

SZA & Justin Timberlake Troll everybody with "The Other Side" | Random J Pop

Justin Timberlake and SZA both shared a good while back that they'd hit the studio together. No word on how many songs they did and for whose project. But at least one of those songs was released today and it's a song for the new Trolls movie, Trolls World Tour.

2016's Trolls movie song "Can't Stop The Feeling" was not only one of Justin Timberlake's biggest hits, but it won a damn Grammy too. And given his lead role in these Trolls films, it was a no-brainer to have Justin cut another song.

These Trolls movies ain't gonna stop and Justin will be releasing lead singles from the soundtrack for all eternity. When he's dead, Dreamworks and Sony Music will Miku Hatsune his ass.

Not too long ago, Justin was kicking it at a bar and getting too close for comfort with another woman. So I bet when he told his wife that he was shooting a music video with SZA, Jessica Biel chaperoned his ass to set and told him there will be no non-plutonic close contact with anything but the floor, a wall and the camera.

Y'all remember how close and handsy Justin was with Ciara in that "Love Sex Magic" video!?

None one bit of it here.

Probably because this song is for a kids movie. But probably because Jessica was sat behind the monitors with a piece in her Chesterfield coat pocket muttering 'Try me w***a'.

"The Other Side" will be great for opening SZA up to new audiences post Ctrl; something she's been laying groundwork for with her appearance on the lead single from the Black Panther soundtrack and her collaborations with Maroon 5 and Lorde. But this shit is really gonna go the distance. I can't see "The Other Side" being anywhere near as big as "Can't Stop The Feeling". But if it manages to be, then bitch, we gon' hear this song all year long.

I'm not sure how I feel about SZA on the song though. She sounds absolutely fine on it, but that's it. She doesn't make the song. The whole thing sounds so much like a Justin Timberlake (i.e Michael Jackson) song anyway that he coulda sang the song himself and I'd feel no differently about it. SZA brings EVERYTHING to the music video, but doesn't add anything to the song. Maybe she has a role in the movie or suttin'. If not, then gurl. Good for you. Get that exposure and case those Pop cheques.
