Here's the thing.

Blackpink have a very set sound and image. A sound of which reminds me a lot of 2NE1, which has always made me feel a type of way, because it feels like YG are just doing 2NE1 shit with a new group, when they coulda just done it...with 2NE1. It's actually really clever, being able to ride the wave of an old group with a whole new one.

So if you're a fan of Blackpink no matter what, then you'll love "How You Like That". And if you weren't a fan of them before, then nothing about "How You Like That" will change your mind. But it's fine, because at this point, Blackpink isn't trying to win over new fans. They really don't need to. This song is already gonna hammer the music streaming platform and YouTube servers.

"How You Like That" isn't bad, but it isn't new, nor is it fresh. It sounds a lot like "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" and pretty much runs the same formula that Blackpink songs always have. Blackpink are far more talented than just being given these 2NE1 sounding-ass songs from YG's resident producer Teddy Park. I have long been at a point of wanting to hear something different from Blackpink. Some diversity. Some range.

The Lady Gaga and Blackpink collabo "Sour Candy" is not that great of a song. But it was refreshing hearing Blackpink on something different other than a tried and tested Teddy Park production and they sounded really good on it. They own that song in such a way that Lady Gaga barely matters on it.

And the music video is just like the music. We've seen it from Balckpink before. "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du", "Boombayah", "Kill This Love" and "How You Like That" all look like variations of the same video. You can shuffle shots between them and nothing would look out of place.

Blackpink are consistent if nothing else. But with so many of their songs sounding the same and their music videos looking the same, I'm bored.
