K-Pop wouldn't be a fair amount of what it is now without Blackness. Not just the fashion, but the sound. But the thing with the sound is that over the course of the past 10 years, K-Pop hasn't just been mimicking US sounds. It's been using the US talent who are already doing it. And as a result many K-Pop idols songs are written and produced by US songwriters and producers, many of whom are Black. Girls' Generation's "The Boys" being produced by Teddy Riley. BoA's "Kiss My Lips" being produced by The Stereotypes, a collective which features 2 Black men. Makeba Riddick, who had written a large bulk of Rihanna's Rated R album, penning a song for f(x). Blackness has somehow become part of the fabric of K-Pop as we know it now. Half of the YG entertainment roster wouldn't exist without it.
With the movement that's happening now and the craziness with K-Pop fans flooding white supremacist hashtags with fancams in support of Black lives, it made sense now as much of any to highlight the intersection of Blackness and K-Pop, with a playlist featuring selected songs which feature the talents of Black songwriters and producers.
