In 2018 Daichi Mirua released a concept album titled Kyuutai (球体), which translates as Sphere. Kyuutai isn't a regular Daichi Miura album. It's a concept album. The best way to describe Kyuutai is as Nao'ymt's solo album being performed by Daichi Miura.

Kyuutai is written and produced entirely by Japanese music producer Nao'ymt, who has written and produced for several of Daichi's albums. Nao'ymt is mostly known for his work with Namie Amuro on her albums Queen of Hip-Pop and Play, and being the writer and producer of her most popular songs, "Baby Don't Cry".

Daichi held a one man show performing all of the songs on the album back in 2018, which Avex have made available on YouTube. The release is timely, as this performance wasn't to an audience and you get some nice close ups of empty chairs.

I have no idea how long this will be up for. Knowing Avex and just J-Music in general, it'll probably be removed in a month or so. So be sure to watch this sooner than later, as it's a really good show. If you're a Perfume fan who's into cool stage setups, lighting and projections as a result, then you'll find a lot to like here.

I can imagine Kyuutai being an acquired taste, because it is pretty different from the rest of the albums in Daichi's discography. The songs aren't all the usual radio ready ear-worms you'd expect from the writer and producer of cuts like "WoWa" and "Baby Don't Cry". So if you've not heard the album before, I'd recommend making this performance your first introduction to it. When I first listened to Kyuutai I felt that some of the songs would work far better with visuals to go along with them. And this show, to me, makes the vision for Kyuutai far more realised.

Song highlights for me are "円環 (Enkan)", "硝子壜 (Garasubin), "(Yugato)", "綴化 (Tekka)", "クレーター (Crater)". If you're like 'Bitch, how do I know which tracks these are?' Track 2, track 3, track 11, track 12 and track 13.
