Music Video: SuperM go peak throwback boy band for "100"

Music Video: SuperM go peak throwback boy band for "100" | Random J Pop

SuperM are back with a brand new song, and I don't like it. Figured I'd just get that out of the way from the jump. I could not stand "Jopping". As great as that music video was, I just could not with that song. But I do get what SM were going for then and what they going for now.

SM are giving us the old school boy band vibes. Specifically, UK boy bands from the late 90s and early 2000s. It's giving me Take That. It's giving me East 17. It's giving me A1.

I really like the video to this. It's looking like cars is gonna be the SuperM theme and it was delivered in a cool way without having the members just racing around in cars. I feel like this is how "Jopping" should have rolled out, as there was a real disconnect for me between the Super M branding, the album packaging shoot and the Super M teasers and the music video.

Typical for K-Pop? Yeah. Dancing in sets looking like tunnels with hella lights has been run into the ground. But, hey. It's K-Pop. And I can't lie, it looked really cool. You can see SM threw MONEY at this music video, and some other groups who are due to drop are 'bout to get texts that their comeback video budget has been slashed.

I will never listen to "100" again, but I will check out their upcoming album though, as their debut EP did have a couple of good songs on it which were far cooler and slicker than "Jopping". If there's one thing about SM entertainment, it's that their lead tracks aren't always the best and are not indicative of what to expect from albums. So I always take them with a pinch of salt.
