Mashup: Janet Jackson x Crystal Kay - Escapade

A pile of colourful floppy discs. With one pink disc with a label on it, which features the cover art for the Janet Jackson x Crystal Kay Random J Mashup. The cover art of which features a shot from a Rhythm Nation 1814 shoot which took place in a desert, with two of Jackson’s dancers.

A Janet Jackson and Crystal Kay mashup is something that I really shoulda done by now. I’m a huge fan of both artists. They are connected by having both worked with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis—with Kay’s Jam & Lewis productions sounding VERY much like Jackson songs. But I just never thought of doing a mashup or had an idea for one come to me.

Until now, bitch.I decided that I really wanted to do a Jackson and Kay mashup, so I genuinely did think about what would and could work. And two ideas came to me. Both of which worked. And this here is the first of the two—Jackson’s “Escapade” over Kay’s “Delicious na Kinyoubi”.

“Escapade” and “Delicious na Kinyoubi” are both such similar songs in term of their vibes and subject matters. Both songs are about wanting to just get away and have fun for a weekend. Jackson even mentions the day Friday in her song. And both songs just feel so uplifting and joyous—a common trait in both Jackson and Kay’s music. So, here’s to a delicious Friday. I hope you enjoy.
