Calvin Harris' Live lounge performances

Ready for the weekend

Calvin Harris and Mary Pearce cover Kasabian's "Fire"

Not the most memorable of Live lounge performances It'd be cool to hear Calvin Harris sing "Ready for the weekend" live in the same key as the album version though. His last performance of the song on Alan Carr's show was mimed, and in this Live lounge performance he took the song down a key and sang the whole thing in lower registers. His trademark falsetto was disappointingly absent from this performance which was a shame. Plus the whole thing lacked that high energy of the album version too. I still love the song though. I play it in my car when I'm zipping around and the weather's nice.

The performance of Kasabian's "Fire" was better than that of "Ready for the weekend", but was nothing special. It would've been cool if Calvin did more than just sit and play his little Casio keyboard thingy during the chorus. Live lounge is about covering somebody else's song and really putting a unique stamp on it, and I don't think Calvin did. His heart didn't seem to be in either of these performances. If it wasn't for Mary Pearce, both performances would've been epic fails.
