Friendly fires stopped by Radio 1's live lounge to do a cover of a Lady Gaga song. Friendly fires never should have agreed amongst themselves to do this. NEVER! *clutches copy of Pala* Tropical parrots around the world are crying. CRYING!!
Friendly fires took Lady Gaga's shit and made it...well...Friendly firesey (I love making up words). I love Friendly fires and develop a borderline obsession with Ed McFarlane's voice whenever a new song of theirs touches down. But this cover is just weird. It sounds like the kind of thing a cruise ship band would play when the lights go down for old people to ballroom dance. And in comparison to Pala (which I've been playing to absolute death ever since picking it up) this just feels too lax, too low energy and un-summery for me. Also, I just plain couldn't stand "The edge of glory".
Album review: The Friendly fires provide the Summer soundtrack with Pala
