Rina Sawayama turns a pussy gettin' bop into a tale of forever alone, with a piano version of "Cherry"

Rina stays denying us a full length album, but at least she's giving us something in the meantime. Despite releasing a new song "Flicker" back in November, Rina chose to hit us with a piano version of her pussy awakening bop which came before, "Cherry".

Rina really took a celebratory song about possibly getting some pussy and flipped it into something that sounds like she gon' be alone and dusting cobwebs forever.

We don't even deserve this version of "Cherry" when we barely supported the original. Rina stays giving us potential hit after potential hit, just for each of them to flop. If she turned around and tweeted...

I honestly wouldn't blame her.

The likelihood of it pushing major units are slim. Rina's still not had that one breakout hit that would cement the success of an album, even in the wake of a successful world-ish tour and a critically acclaimed EP. I'd very much like to be wrong and to see Rina's debut album top a chart out of nowhere. And I hope that Rina does continue to do music for as long as she can, even if major sales don't come. Because she's one of the few select folk in Pop that's really doing it for me.
