With the synthpop band Chairlift calling it quits in 2016, former lead vocalist Caroline Polachek is going it solo. Well, she's done it before. But obviously this time there's no Chairlift to go back to.
It's just you, bitch.
In a move that's surprising, but not all that surprising given that a group that Chairlift ended up producing a song for Beyoncé, Caroline has teamed up with PC music member Danny L. Harle who most will either know of via his work with the PC music vessel that has become Charli XCX or the song "Supernatural" that he cut with Carly Rae Jepsen. And whilst PC music and Danny himself have become affiliated with more uptempo, dance-able songs (as a result of their work with Charli XCX, who Caroline had collaborated with for the song "Tears" on Pop 2) Danny's songs with Polachek hearken back to PC music's more sparse and moodier productions. It's a nice change of pace for him and will undoubtedly be a welcomed one for PC music fans who were all about this style. Then of course, there's Caroline who delivers a hauntingly beautiful vocal and set of lyrics.
The way my soul bungee jumped when Caroline hit those high notes.
Caroline Polachek's second studio album Pang will be released at some point this year, and based on what I've heard so far, between this, "Ocean of tears" and "Door", I'm looking forward to it. I'mma probably be moody and depressed by the end of it. But I'm still looking forward to it. Sometime that needs to be the vibe and it just be like that.
