Madeon throws it back with "Dream Dream Dream"

Madeon throws it back with "Dream Dream Dream" | Random J Pop

Madeon is an artist I've mentioned a few times on this site, usually when referring to Yasutaka Nakata's output since he decided to go full blown Western EDM with his sound and drag the quality of Perfume's music with it. Madeon is actually a huge fan of Yasutaka Nakata and a meeting between the two of them led them to remixing one another's songs. But I've never actually posted on Madeon himself.

Until now.

Madeon has been working on his second studio album Good faith for quite some time and is finally lifting the lid on it. After hearing Good faith's first single "All my friends", I was expecting its follow-up to me more of the same. But Madeon tossed my wig into a Sonic the hedgehog Green hill zone loop-the-loop, and instead dropped this throwback R&B-sounding-ass-song.

This is a massive switch in gears from the Madeon we got on his debut Adventure, which is to be expected. Since releasing his debut album, he's toured, he's produced for establish acts such as Two door cinema club and Lady Gaga, found a friend in Porter Robinson and released some shit with him. And then there's all of the other undocumented life shit that's happened. It's nice to hear the shift in Madeon's music and that he's not giving us the same ol', same ol', but that it still feels and sounds very much like him.

"Home" was one of my fave songs from Madeon's debut Adventure, which just so happened to be the only song on the album which featured Madeon singing. So it's cool for him to come out of his shell and explore that a little more. Sure, his voice is heavily effected, but all these Pop hoes now-a-days sound like their voice is coming out of an underwater Bluetooth speaker anyway.
