Album art + tracklist: Rina Sawayama - Sawayama | Rina's debut album is upon us

It's actually happening. Rina Sawayama is dropping a full length album. When I saw the news hit the Twitter timeline, I thought it was lies, even though the tweet was from Rina herself. Until I saw the news break on Fader, Pitchfork and that her label had a whole page up for that shit.

It's finally coming. Rina's debut album. On April 17th.

Sawayama (stylized as SAWAYAMA) is the first full length album from Rina. The title of which has dual meaning. Obviously, it's her surname. But this album is also the follow up to her debut EP which was titled RINA. So slap 'em together and...yep. And in keeping with the message of "STFU!" it's a bit of a middle finger to those who may find her surname difficult to pronounce and 'too ethnic'. Y'all can pronounce Joaquin Phoenix, but not Sawayama?

I'm glad to see that "Snakeskin" made the cut, because the short clip of the song which surfaced when Rina had performed it live sounded like fire. "Dynasty" is also another cut that Rina had performed last year. There's every chance that both may sound completely different from what fans have heard. But they'll be brand new either way, because we've yet to hear the studio recorded versions which will sound different regardless.

Rina will also be embarking on a tour to support the album. Starting in the US at the tail end of April and finishing up in the UK in May.
