Tame Impala remind me not to get "Lost in yesterday" and drag my wig back out of the past | Random J Pop

Tame Impala decided to play Badminton with my wig this weekend, with the release of a video for their latest song "Lost in yesterday".

I honestly wasn't expecting this song to get a video. But now that it has, I'mma need previous releases such as "It might be time" and "Posthumous forgiveness" to get ones too. I know that asking too much from Tame 'We do what we want and only when we feel like it...maybe' Impala.

All of the songs from the upcoming album The Slow Rush that Tame Imapala have treated us to have been very pensive, and are fixed on the topic of remembering and recalling moments from your past, but not to the point of leaving yourself stuck there, and facing whatever from your past still haunts you. It's an oddly fitting topic given the state of the world today and just how much has happened over the past couple of years.

The topic of getting lost in yesterday definitely hits home for me. I've spent a great deal of the past 6 months just thinking about my past, what could have been and things I wish I can change. Pulling yourself out of that can be really difficult when you start to see what a future could have been like had you done things differently, even though you know in your heart there's no guarantee that things would have turned out any different and that you still have a life ahead of you to live with all that you've learned from your past. It's something that I'm trying to reconcile with better. And given my love of music, it's nice when a song come along that you can latch onto and feel seen by.

Also, "Lost in yesterday" is generally just a really fucking good song.

For those who may not be familiar with Tame Impala, but live for Rihanna; the song "Same ol' mistakes" (THE best song on her Anti album) was a cover of Tame Impala's "New person, same pld mistakes".
