SM entertainment said 'Fuck it. Give them ALL the sub-units'. Irene & Seulgi from Red Velvet and Sehun & Chanyeol from EXO, all out the do'.
I feel like I say the same thing a lot of the time whenever I post about songs and music videos from SM: Cool song, but not unique to the group.
"1 Billion Views" is a nice song, but nothing about it feels unique to this particular duo. This song could be given to any other group or artist in SM, from Super Junior and SHINee to BoA and the song would work and be no worse off or no better.
It's a shame that featuring artist Moon wasn't worked more into the song. It would have been nice to hear her go back and forth with Sehun & Chanyeol and to even rap. Her feature came at a point when I forgot that there was even a guest feature on the damn song.
I like "1 Billion Views". Over the past 5 years, SM have done a great job when it comes to their A&R and picking good songs. But the individuality between their acts has diminished as a result of them being so fixed into a couple of sounds. But it's part of the business plan and pushing the brand more than the artist, so it's to be expected I guess.
