SM entertainment to celebrate BoA's 20th anniversary with an EP | Random J Pop

To commemorate 20 years in the music biz and under the same label, SM are releasing an EP of covers.

An EP y'all. With the title 'Our Beloved BoA'. Like a bitch is dead and it's a memorial compilation.

The artist who IS SM entertainment and basically saved that company and had them cashing cheques in Won and Yen for 20 years is getting an EP.

This EP features covers from fellow SM label mates Red Velvet and Baekhyun. But the biggest surprise is a cover from R&B singer Gallant. I say biggest surprise, but it shouldn't be really, given that SM entertainment's A&R's are very much in tune with R&B and has become somewhat of the core sound at SM. Gallant's very own "Gentleman" sounds like like a blueprint for many of the slow, swoony R&B numbers that SM have become smitten with over the past couple of years; most recently Seulgi's "Uncover".

SM coulda come better than this. This should have at the very least been a full length album. And at the most been an album of covers of BoA's Korean material and an album of covers of BoA's Japanese material.
