Beni is commemorating the 15th anniversary of her career with an EP, Your Song (stylised as Y/our Song). Initially, I was like 'Gurl. 15 years in the game and you're only dropping an EP!?'. But then again, I get so tired of these J-music anniversary campaigns that artists often do and the expectation that they set. I think it's cool that Beni isn't dropping a Best album or a whole new full-length album. And given the pandemic, she wouldn't be able to go full throttle with the promotion or support it with a full-scale tour. And given Beni's last few releases, I don't think either her, her label or her management or about that heavy promo life.
What would have been great is a release of Beni's full discography to all streaming platforms globally. Some of Beni's best selling albums still aren't available for streaming outside of Japan. This would have pleased her International fans who feel than an EP isn't enough.

Beni will be supporting this release with the New Moon tour, which was supposed to kick off back in May, but was cancelled because of...yep, you guessed it. Corona-san.

I can't say I'm looking forward to this new EP. Nothing that Beni has put out since Fortune has been all that great to me. Beni got dragged for working with Daisuke Imai and all of her songs sounding the same, but what they had worked, and it was giving other producers a good template to do work from, which worked in Jewel's favour. I remember joints from those Daisuke Imai heavy albums. I barely remember anything from the albums which came after. But it's good that a bitch is still signed and putting out music.
Your Song is Beni's first ever EP, and will be available on September 16th. The singles "Yumeiro Biyori" and "Happy" are currently available on streaming.
