Beyoncé has released the visual for "Brown Skin Girl" from her Disney+ exclusive film Black Is King to YouTube, just as everybody knew she eventually would. Because, how could a bitch not!?

The visual surprisingly not only featured Black dark skinned girls and women, but also Indian women too, which was a nice inclusive touch and acknowledgement of the fact that colourism exists in India too; where whitening cosmetics is a multi-million dollar industry.

I always liked the song "Brown Skin Girl", but watching the visual made it hit in a whole new way. It also features one of my favourite shots in the whole of Black Is King, which is the Black girl walking at the start. It was immediate to me as a Londoner that THAT was shot in London; in what we call council estates, which is the UK term for public housing. Amongst all of the opulence and stunning locations, this is such a beautiful and grounding moment. A Black girl looking like a princess, walking through a public housing estate, leading right into the song "Brown Skin Girl". Then the video ending with the same girl emerging amongst Black women and smiling as she basks in her light. My eye was wiped y'all.

I love that this arc with the young girl was 'Black is beautiful', but also the inclusion of the story of Black Is King, which is that riches can be found anywhere and that it lives inside of each of us. This is something that will absolutely resonate with not just every Black girl, but every Black kid who grew up on a council estate and was made to feel less than.

Bravo Beyoncé. Well done bitch.
