Raye gives it to the gays with her Disco "Jolene" cut "Natalie Don't"

Raye gives a Gloria Gaynor and Dolly Parton throwback with "Natalie Don't" | Random J Pop

Singer / songwriter Raye has released a new song, and is ready to take on some Pop bitches. Raye is an artist in her own right, but Beyoncé fans will recognise her as a songwriter first, as Raye wrote "Bigger" from The Lion King: The Gift with fellow songwriter Stacy Barthe and also featured in the making of featurette.

"Natalie Don't" is basically a fusion of Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" and Dolly Parton's "Jolene". Raye said 'I'mma give those gays sumn'. For an artist who is yet to truly crossover, this fusion of two Pop classics matched with it having a sound which is popular right now gives it a broad appeal. The only thing I think will fuck up this songs' chances of success is that some may hear it on the radio and mistake it for a Dua Lipa joiny, or straight up say that Raye is jacking her style. Because apparently nobody was doing Disco and funky basslines before "Don't Start Now". But hopefully Raye sees success with this song. It certainly has the potential to cut across so many cross sections of music fans and generations between its influences. And it's also just a damn good Pop record.
