Music video: Toni Braxton suits up and gives us a struggle 2-step for her Disco bop "Dance"

Music video: Toni Braxton suits up for "Dance" | Random J Pop

Toni Braxton giving us Disco and a dance routine. Bitch, I never thought I'd see the day, but always hoped it would come.

Every artist, their mother and their fifty'lem cousins are boarding the Disco train this year. It's been a genre that's always been dipped into throughout the decades and has been successful on the charts, with it blowing up in a big way following Daft Punk's Pharrell and Nile Rodgers' assisted smash hit "Get Lucky". But truth be told, Disco never completely left. Especially not here in the UK. There was a period in the late 90s and early 2000s where it was running rampant. Sophie-Ellis Bextor, Moloko, Kylie Minogue, Dannii Minogue, many a Pop artist was doing Disco.

This is a real nice song and completely unexpected from Toni Braxton. Usually when she does uptempo dance songs they feel contrived ("Hit The Freeway"), or they get released at the wrong time with no album or promo behind it ("I Heart You"). But this feels right for Toni. The timing is perfect given the current soundscape, it's hot the heels of an awaited album and is a damn good song. And she actually gave us PRODUCTION VALUE. Y'all know how long it's been since I saw a Toni Braxton video that looked like it had money and creative direction!?

Toni can't dance for shit, but she looked great.

I would love for Toni to drop a remix of this featuring Babyface. Something about the groove and whole throwback vibe just made me think of Babyface.

Toni Braxton's 10th studio album Spell My Name releases on August 28th.
