When I saw this shot of Pamyu Pamyu as part of a Halloween campaign, the first thing I said was 'Bitch. Halloween, this early!?'. And then I realised that we're basically half way through September and Halloween is mere weeks away.
How in the fuck as 2020 managed to feel like the longest year ever, yet fly by so damn quickly!?
HENNYWAY.
Kyary has been tapped by Shiseido to be the face of their Halloween campaign for Beauty Square, which is like the Japanese equivalent of an Ulta, but with extra fancy experiences and a focus on digital technology. So, basically, an Ulta with lots of digital screens everywhere, an interactive art installation and a blog.
The Beauty Square visual at the top of the post features the work of Shiseido hair and make-up artist Tadashi Harada, who is known for his crazy hair sculptures which have appeared in numerous fashion publications in Japan. He had also styled Kyary when she last featured in a Beauty Square campaign in June.
Ever since the success of Kyardi P's Halloween campaign with Uniqlo's sister brand G.U. back in 2012 with "Fashion Monster", Kyary has continually ended up doing some Halloween themed shit. She posts more about beauty than she does her own music and upcoming gigs; it's clearly a passion of hers, so Kyary is the perfect fit for a Halloween beauty campaign. I'm surprised she's not started beauty vlogging on YouTube yet. A bitch should. She won't be able to do this music thing the way she's been doing it forever. And she can kiss all hopes of Nakata Yasutaka transitioning her sound into something grown if she decides she wants to continue music.
