COVID-19 vaccination efforts around the world are underway, but Hikaru Utada said 'Bitch, it ain't fast enough'. So she's taking it into her own hands. The first dose "One Last Kiss" is barely out the door, and Vaccinetada already as the second dose waiting in the wings. A song titled "Pink Blood" for the anime To Your Eternity.

To Your Eternity is an anime adaptation of the manga of the same name which will broadcast on NHK's sister service E-Tele, and will feature the interestingly titled "Pink Blood". Who the fuck knows what the context of this title will even be. This is the same artist who released a song about a stuffed bear, another about coriander, and one about wanting to fuck the dude across the street because homebody next door passed away.

Something that I think should be highlighted in regards to To Your Eternity, is that it is a manga written and illustrated by a woman, Yoshitoki Ōima. I honestly wonder if some people know that women not only create manga, but have in fact been behind some hugely popular ones. Inuyasha, Fullmetal Alchemist, Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailor Moon. All created by women.

Hikaru Utada's music has often been used as themes for anime's and all things adjacent, such as the Kingdom Hearts series. But it wouldn't surprise me if To Your Eternity being created by a woman played some part in why Hikaru Utada agreed for her song to be a part of it. I'd like to think that it did. But it was probably just Teruzane making sure them cheques stay posted.

To Your Eternity is due to air from April 12th, but there is no official release date for the song at time of writing. I'm not holding out for a good music video. With Hikaru Utada living in London and the whole of the Un-united Kingdom on lockdown, I can't see her shooting anything for it. So, To Your Eternity montage it is.

I don't wanna go making any assumptions, but I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one feeling that a new Hikaru Utada album is imminent. My only concern is that we'll be in another position where we've heard a third to half of the damn thing by the time it releases. Unless Hikaru pulls a _genic and says 'NEW ALBUM, NONE OF THE SINGLES ARE ON IT' which I would be very here for. I honestly wish more Japanese artists were ruthless with which singles make albums. But with Japan now embracing digital single releases over physical single releases, I guess there's a greater argument for them to feature on albums than before.
