Mabel throws it back to a RuPaul classic with "Let Them Know" | Random J Pop

UK pop artist and daughter of UK pop royalty Neneh Cherry and Cameron McVey, Mabel said 'I'mma give the gays everything that they want' and decided to kick off which looks to be the start of a new album campaign during Pride month with the song "Let Them Know".

"Let Them Know" is co-written by Raye and MNEK, with production courtesy of SG Lewis. So it's a recipe for a hit. The song 90s as fuck, and features a melody which sounds a hell of a lot like RuPaul's "Supermodel (You Better Work)". It sounds so much like it, that Mabel best watch out for some papers to be served.

I know when Duolingo heard this, she turned to her team like 'Why didn't you motherfuckers secure this song for me?'.

Ever since seeing Mabel's 2020 BRIT Awards performance, I was expecting this moment. The moment when Mabel would turn a corner with her sound and her persona. Much like Dua Lipa when she first came onto the scene, Mabel wasn't really one for high energy dance music or dancing. The few times she attempted dancing, she looked mad awkward. But with time, the right song and the right vibe - she's really taken on this whole new persona and it's doing wonders for her. I mean, shit. She had to with a song like this. You can be out here in a body suit cutting the choochie, bussin' a split, talking 'bout 'LET THEM KNOW' and be looking coy, awkward and not embodying the song.

There's been no official album announcement yet as I type this, but I'm going to assume that About Last Night is the title of Mabel's upcoming second studio album, given that it appears three times in the music video. And with MNEK having written songs for Mabel's debut High Expectations and pretty much every girl in UK pop, it's a given he'll probabaly feature in the liner notes for several songs. And I'm sure we'll be seeing Raye's name in a few places too.
