Fujii Kaze features in GQ's shortlist of Voices of the Future

Fujii Kaze features in GQ's shortlist of Voices of the Future | Random J Pop

As part of GQ's special Voices of the Future issue, global editions of GQ each nominated a young and / or up and coming artist that they thought fit the bill as a voice of the future. And needless to say, GQ Japan nominated Fujii Kaze, which I think is highly deserved. All of the artists picked feature in the global issues, but grace the cover of their respective countries' edition of the issue itself.

One thing about Kaze, he is photogenic. He gon' serve you face and a whole lotta hair. It's wild that he's not featured in more fashion campaigns and that he hadn't done a stint as a model prior to music. But I guess he's all about the music.

Kaze posted behind the scenes footage of his GQ shoot to his Insta and my geeky ass was fascinated to see what was shot and what was edited for the final photo, because there are pretty big differences. The surface Kaze was shot on was bright green, which they completely changed. The colour of his suit was muted. And the lighting of the shot and the brightness of the sky is completely altered, making the shot look as though it was taken at a different time of day and under a different set of conditions than it was.

It's crazy to me how many things which are shot go through some form of post production, retouching and VFX process beyond just brightness and contrast adjustments. Even things that you figure wouldn't. It's something I've been noticing a lot in filmed footage for TV shows too as of late. And I imagine VFX shots have become more of a necessity for every production, no matter what type of show is being shot, as a result of the pandemic preventing crews and talent from shooting willy-nilly at every location over the course of the pandemic.

Wow. That was a tangent.

HENNYWAY.
