Music video: Superfly goes right back to the old shit with “Dynamite”

Superfly has a new digital single and music video out already, and after the complete deviation from the signature Superfly sound for “Voice”, it’s right back to regular programming. I’m sure this pleases many fans, given how frosty the reception to “Voice” was.

Some of y’all have no taste. And the Japanese gays really let a bitch down.

This new song. “Dynamite”.

“Dynamite” is part of a promotional tie-in; featuring in commercials for Japan’s annual Boat Race. So if a network broadcaster or sponsor approaches Superfly for a song, they’re gonna want the sound that everybody associates with Superfly. So I completely get why we got a pivot away from the sound of “Voice”. But I was under no impression that Superfly would completely abandon their signature sound. It’s just a shame to hear her hell toe back to it so quickly. “Dynamite” is a good song, and Shiho’s voice sounds great, as always. It will do what it needs to do.
