Koda Kumi re-announces her Kingdom Tour for 2027

A screenshot from Koda Kumi’s video announcing the new dates for her 2027 Kingdom tour. Featuring Kumi (with an uncanny face which looks superimposed) sat on a leopard throne, wearing a black dress and a crown.

Koda Kumi has announced the new dates for her new Kingdom Tour. And with it came an announcement trailer, similar to the first one.

I cannot embed Avex videos on this blog for some reason. I guess Max Matsuura read some of my Ayumi Hamasaki album reviews. So you’ll need to head over to YouTube to watch this performance.

I don’t know who that woman was who sat in that chair, but it wasn’t Kumi. This looked like some AI bullshit. I don’t know why they couldn’t have just used a different edit of the original video. But, whatever.

I kinda wish that she had re-branded the tour as Kursed Kingdom, because Kingdom truly is cursed. The Kingdom album and its original tour got a molotov cocktail thrown at it because of The Rotten Pussy Fluid Scandal of 2008. And then the 2026 Kingdom Tour wound up getting postponed due to Kumi’s pregnancy, which resurfaced The Rotten Pussy Fluid Scandal of 2008. And I have to wonder — at the point Kumi knew she was pregnant, why could her team not have had her quickly shoot a second Kingdom promo video to release now, rather than use a body double and some weird A.I. face replacement?

HENNYWAY.

Women are something else. Because I don’t know how whilst you are either in the midst of pregnancy or having just had a child, that you could fathom touring. To go straight into training, body conditioning and tour rehearsals is absolute insanity. I could never.

I think circling the block, ‘reheating the onigiri’ or whatever the kids say these days is a really cool idea. Especially for an artist such as Kumi whose original releases have been pretty terrible for the past decade and is still known and revered for what she put out in the early to mid 2000s. But she needs to do something aside from just re-visiting a tour. She needs to mark the occasion and go all in on the nostalgia with a music release too. If there were ever a time for Avex and Kumi to release Kingdom on vinyl with a gold variant, it would be in 2027 to coincide with this tour.
