Kyary gives a Kabuki style show that looks how her last album shoulda sounded | Random J Pop

On July 30th, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu held a special Kabuki theme show, which was in celebration of the end of Japan's Hesei period and the ushering in of Reiwa.

It would have made far more sense for this Kabuki themed show to have been her concert theme in support of Japamyu. Doing so may have kept the album on the ORICON chart for more than a minute and helped it chart in the top 10. This shit was like giving a Christmas performance in January. Kyardi P really did more for Miss Reiwa than her own album.

But, anyway.

Kyary uploaded a video which shows highlights from the show, and some of the preparation which was involved to pull off what looked like a great show.

It's nice seeing more of Kyary behind the scenes and seeing the effort she puts into her shows. She's not much of a performer, but the bitch works hard and stays on her grind and I admire that. And to be on stage under all those lights and having to dance in the outfits that she does?! I could never. It does not take much for my body to heat up. My face would have been a sweaty mess before the platform took me up to the stage, and I would've collapsed by the time the second chorus of "Ninjari bang bang" hit.

It was cool hearing her songs be re-worked for this performance too, as well as new pieces of music. The piece that played during her entrance onto the stage should have been used as the album intro to Japamyu. It would have fit far better than "Virtual Pamyu Pamyu", which sounded more video game like and less Japan-culture-centric. So much so that it gave me the idea to put together a collection of Pussy Pam songs which sounded like they could be from a video game.

As per usual, Nakata gave Kyary more than he gave Perfume.

It's a shame that Kyary didn't make Kyary Kabuki Kabuki a full blown national tour, but I guess a more one off approach makes it that bit more special. Her people should shop the full show to Netflix; seeing as they're low key trying to build out original Japanese content on there. Netflix better do suttin' to give themselves some type of edge with Disney + coming for their necks - but that's another discussion for a whole 'nother blog and platform.
