⚠️ Apologies in advance for the embedded video auto-playing. I don't know how to make it NOT do that shit. Because I fucking hate when I go on sites and videos auto-play.

October marks somewhat of an anniversary for Tarana Burke's 'Me too' movement reaching fever pitch following the 2017 allegations made against Harvey Weinstein. And several publications such as Elle and Variety have chosen to flip that and make their October issues celebratory of women who have been crushing the game over the past year and / or been in the game long enough that they've seen it all.

Variety's Power of women issue featured interviews with Chaka Khan, Brie Larson, Jennifer Aniston, Awkwafina, Dana Walden and Mariah Carey; all of whom also received their own cover.

As was the case with Mariah's Genius interview (which is to this day, is still her best interview) Mariah was given the opportunity to talk on topics and aspects of her life that she rarely gets asked about, such as Camp Mariah and the work she does with the New York charity The fresh air fund, what it's like being in the music industry as a woman, female camaraderie and being asked directly about the shit she went through with Glitter, where she clarifies the public perception versus what happened.

This wasn't the longest interview, but it was still a great one.

30 y***s into her career and still dropping great albums and still giving her fans new things to learn and uncover about her.

Queen of giving people everything, but not EVERYTHING.

Despite being the second biggest selling female artist of all time, I don't think Mariah will ever truly get the props that she deserves. Janet Jackson? Same shit. A couple of flop albums, wonky relationships splashed in the press and shit surrounding them during points in their career have played their part in taking the spotlight away from the contributions that they have made to popular music and just how much they set the blueprint for the artists every seems to love today.

Taylor Swift is out here making sure she owns her shit and writes her songs and has control of her music, and she's being championed for it, and rightly so. Meanwhile Mariah was doing the same thing, but props were not and still aren't given to her for it. Maybe because everybody is blind-sighted her being a diva. Or maybe there's a level of credibility she'll never get because everybody assumed Tommy Mottola did everything for her, something she completely rejects in this interview.

Ever since Mariah outed herself as being diagnosed as bipolar, got rid of Stella, bagged herself a new man and got a good team around her, she's been the happiest I think I've ever seen her and seems to be enjoying her life and her career.

Y'all better go stream Caution.
