I like me a podcast and one that I listen to regularly is Kid Fury and Crissle's The Read. And I've been an avid listener for years now.
Fellow fans of theirs know that 2 artists who they adore and sing the praises of on a regular basis are Beyoncé and Missy Elliott. The latter of whom they've been advocating for to win an MTV video Vanguard award from before Beyoncé even got hers. Something which did not go unnoticed by Missy herself when she started seeing fans campaigning for it, and had said back in 2018 that if she were ever the recipient of the Video vanguard award, she would take Kid Fury and Crissle as her guests to the VMA's. Then this year in 2019 she was honoured with the Video Vanguard award and kept her promise. And with The Read now also being a TV show, Missy Elliott appeared as a guest.
Bitch. Full circle moments.
Crissle in the "Beep me 911" look sent my wig flying to Guatemala.
Missy has said that there will be new music on the way, but is remaining tight lipped on when it will drop and how. Something else that Missy has mentioned numerous times and been very open about, is not being able to get enough of a lay of the land to know what will work in the current climate of music. It's a shame that an artist who was once so fearless with the music she put out is now so concerned about what will hit and what won't. But I get it. In a day an age where response to something is so immediate and attention spans are shorter than the regrowth of Naomi's edges, it's hard not to be consumed by such things.
