Kumi Koda had teased this video on her Instagram back in September and had fans wondering what song it was for and when (and if) it would see the light of day. And today is that day.
"k," is not a single, yet has a music video. Something that 7 of Kumi's 9 digital singles released over the past 5 months were not granted.
Avex really faxed a bitch and told her she'd have to release 9 digital singles, but she would only have enough money for 3 videos, and that there'd only be enough in the budget to shoot one image that she would have to use for all 9 single covers.
But despite the financial constraints "k," got itself a decent video.
I'm no fan of the song, but it's far better than most of the digital singles we've been subjected to over the past couple of months. It's cute. It's fun. It's fine. But it's nothing amazing that I'll remember. And it's certainly not redemption for her upcoming album. Not when we've heard 9 of the songs, 6 of which are trash, 1 of which is okay and the other with is neither here nor there.
This was a good video though. Even if it was just Ariana Grande's "Side to side" and Kylie's "Sexercize" with a Sesame Street colour palette and some balloons. I wonder how many takes it took to do some of those moves with the exercise ball, because I'm almost certain a bitch must have fallen over a good few times. I felt unstable just watching those ladies pull off some of those moves. My balance is garbage.
And speaking of exercise balls, I just wanna put it out there that Kylie Minogue dropped a video 4 years ago that had Exercise ball choreo, and one of the moves in this video was taken directly from it. Yet again, Kylie be inspiring J-Pop hoes. Never forget. Back when Kylie first dropped that video, I said that Kumi was gon' copy it. And lo and behold. A bitch did.
Also, this has to be the most search unfriendly song title ever. She could have at least called it "Mmm, 'kay".
I'd like to leave you with my favourite moment from this video.
