Perfume's closet is open again, as they release a new line for Spring. A line which seems to be based on their personal styles as opposed to looks they've sported in music videos, as a couple of the previous collections were.
I'm not going to say anything about the clothes. I will not.
Interestingly, this Perfume closet release features some pieces for men. Some men may feel a type of way about buying items from a collection from Perfume. But if you like what you see, do you. Go buy it. None of the pieces do much for me. I'm not a button up shirt or thin tee kinda guy. I liked some of the sweats from one of the Perfume closet releases a couple of years ago, so hopefully they'll make that shit in men's sizing if Perfume's closet returns for Autumn / Winter.
I say that like I'mma actually buy any of it.
The male model in the photo is Yuji Sugimoto of the band Weaver, who is also signed to Amuse, the same talent agency of which Perfume are signed to. Seeing Perfume pose in professional shots with men, or anybody other than each other for that matter, is rare. So this is s'um new. As is to be expected, Kashiyuka and Nocchi are serving and look comfortable, where-as a-chan looks coy and as though she shouldn't be in photos with boys.
Perfume's closet is an interesting concept. Not only for a group whose fashion in music is pretty unfashionable, but because it's essentially Perfume merch with a extended life of not just being memorabilia, but shit you can wear and make use of day-to-day. Much of the non Perfume branded stuff could probably be bought in Zara or ANYWHERE ELSE and much cheaper too. But it's a cool concept and a new twist on merch. I do think that it's overpriced for what it is. The price doesn't match what I can see of the quality in photos. It'd be cool to see Perfume do a side capsule collection with another brand such as Uniqlo, who they'd partnered with before. Not only would it bring the price point down to make it more affordable for all fans, but it'd widen their customer base beyond their own fanbase. Plus, with a global brand such as Uniqlo, they could make it available worldwide for Prfm fans outside of Japan and coincide the release with a World tour. They could even have Uniqlo sponsor the bitch.
It ain't gon' happen. But that's an idea Perfume and Amuse can have for free.
But Perfume's closet pieces be selling out all of the time. And the fact Perfume's closet is still a thing shows this is a business decision that works with no need to change it. I just hope Perfume are seeing some of that coin. They should be, because this shit be so expensive that the return should be enough to line everybody's pockets.
