SM entertainment are making Taemin WORK. New SuperM in August, new solo shit in September and a SHINee comeback by the end of the year?
Chile, those common room refrigerators at SM entertainment must be stacked with IV drips. I don't know how Taemin does, how BoA did it. It's low key abuse, but this ain't the post for that.
Taemin has released his debut album Never Gonna Dance Again: Act 1, which is flanked by a music video for the song "Criminal", following the lead song "2 Kids". Two completely styles of song, but similar visuals, which see Taemin out of it and fucked up. But here we get some kink.
BDSM want everybody to know that Taemin is GROWN. Even though he still looks like a teenager. It felt almost wrong watching Taemin let out the freak in this video because he really does look so damn young.
Hearing Taemin's solo material and seeing the way that his visual style evolved makes me think of Jo Kwon. I feel that these sounds and this visual style would be in line with what Jo Kwon would have pursued if he felt K-Pop were more accommodating of him. And of course had JYP Entertainment not fucked over 2AM. Sure, Jo Kwoncé Seouls-Carter got to do "Animal", but there was nothing after that. And I feel K-Pop was a different beast then compared to what it is now. Male stars are continuing to push the boundaries of gender expression further and further. And whilst K-Pop isn't as open and queer friendly as it could and should be, it's still a different landscape to what it was when Jo Kwon was a part of it.
HENNYWAY.
Taemin's 3rd studio album Never Gonna Dance Again: Act 1 is out now on all streaming platforms, and it's not a bad album. Not very memorable, but not bad.
