FAKY serve a lil' Carly Rae Jepsen with "Take My Hand" | Random J Pop

FAKY's single releases over the past year have pretty steady. So steady to a point that if it were any other act you'd expect an album at the end of the year. But this is FAKY. A group who despite debuting in 2013 have not released a full length album. So there will probabaly be nothing but singles until 2022 and then singles forever. Maybe if fans are lucky, Avex will have FAKY release another EP with re-done versions old songs, and the 24th version of "Candy".

Original member Lil' Fang knows what's up, so she is securing her bags by song writing, having written FAKY's last two singles "The Light" and "Little More" and now "Take My Hand".

FAKY do not have a sound. They just be putting out whatever. But at the very least, they have started to develop a look and an aesthetic when it comes to their music videos. There's no musical through line with their material, but the visual through line is becoming very apparent.

"Take My Hand" isn't a bad song. In fact, if it were written a little better, sung a little better and featured some re-worked production, it could be a GREAT song. It has a really nice 80s sound and reminds me of something Carly Rae Jepsen would put out.

Avex really need to lock down a sound for FAKY though. Or at least have them just put out great material. Whenever FAKY put out a song, it's usually a case of 'Its good, but...'. 'I like it, but...'. So rarely do I hear a FAKY song and just say 'This is fire' and have no notes. I would say that Avex have been in this business for too damn long to be playing FAKY like this, but just look at how they're doing Ayumi Hamasaki.

It's Pride month, the song feels good, it has a nice message, and the music video has lots of nice colours in it. So, whatever.
