Superfly performs the Tokyo Gays™ anthem “Voice” on NHK Songs | Random J Pop

Superfly appeared on the NHK music show Songs to talk about Superfly’s 15th anniversary and also gave (what I think) was her first performance of “Voice” following its release.

I am shocked as fuck that there is actually an official upload of this performance. Because those of you, who like myself, have been into J-pop from outside of Japan, will know that official uploads of live performances are not a thing as they are LITERALLY EVERYWHERE ELSE.

The catch here however, is that much like Avex, NHK have made the dumb decision to not allow their videos to be embedded or viewed on other websites aside from YouTube itself. So you’re gonna have to hop over to YouTube to watch the performance. And because Japan, you can’t leave a comment to let NHK know how bad a bitch Shiho is and how “Voice” is giving for the gays, because they’ve turned all of the comments off.

Japan really don’t give a fuck about engagement.

You know what you’re getting when Shiho steps to the mic. This bitch will have you swear blind that she’s lip syncing, because she sounds so much like the studio recordings.

This performance of “Voice” was solid. Shiho sounded great and looked great. But something about the live mix made “Voice” lack the punch and grandiosity of the studio version. And it also sounded a little slower to me. Although that could be the edible I had an hour ago. But, d’you know what? I’m just glad there is a live performance of the song and that it’s on YouTube. And the fact that Shiho is even bothering to give anybody a press appearance, let alone a live performance with her pregnant-ass-self is something. My lazy ass would absolutely just be at home eating pizza and ice cream.

I’ve had “Voice” on repeat since it released. The Tokyo gays had better be running this shit up.
