So. The tracklist for Rina Sawayama’s second studio album Hold the Girl has been released. Rina shared what looks to be the back of the physical copy of the album, and it is a fucking nightmare to look at. Rina’s designer really said ‘Fuck eye sight and accessibility’. I mean, look at this shit.

I don’t like the cover for Hold the Girl AT ALL.

Don’t like the dress. Don’t like the nails. Don’t like the make up. Don’t like any piece of it.

Rina’s done a dozen magazine shoots over the past couple of months, most of which have featured shots which would have made better album cover shots. But, it is what it is. I think the shot used for “This Hell” was a better shot, although I guess THIS shot is more memorable, because of the dress.

With Hold the Girl set to release in September, we’re probably going to get at least another two singles before then. Although I hope their releases are better thought out and supported than “This Hell” and “Catch Me in the Air” were. “This Hell” came and went, and that “Catch Me in the Air” was just flung out like it was nothing, and it doesn’t seem to be gaining any real traction as a result.

Rina and her team need to get it the fuck together.

Hold the Girl releases on September 2, 2022.
