SZA gives us green flames, glow in the dark milk and ultraviolet titties in “PSA”

SZA posing on the floor, wearing a bikini, surrounded by a circle of green fire.

SZA only just dropped “Shirt” and already we’ve got a teaser for a song called “PSA”!? Is a new SZA album coming SOON soon? SZA posted the video to di socials with the caption ‘Happy birthday to me. Clock starts now.’

Given this run of releases that SZA has been on, it’s easy to think that the album is dropping in mere weeks. This is SZA. She could do all this and still not release an album until Q3 2023. Never forget the debacle that was the Ctrl release, and how that came later than even SZA anticipated. And wasn’t this new album supposed to be out already?

Exactly.

Don’t play yourself and get hung up on that. SZA herself said in an interview with Complex‘I don’t have any deadlines because, at the end of the day, when my shit comes out, it comes out’. So let’s just enjoy what she’s putting out. Because she’s putting out some good shit. And what we hear of “PSA” is some REAL good shit.

“PSA” is only a teaser though. So if “Shirt” is anything to go by, we may not hear it in full until 2026.

SZA’s look. The lighting. The ultraviolet titties. I’ve watched this video multiple times.

This right here is a great example of how you can create something simple and striking, which doesn’t have to be crazy expensive and do the most. Big budgets are always great. But money ain’t shit without a great creative director.

The video for “PSA” is great and has me a little stuck, but so has the song. “PSA” might be my favourite of the songs SZA has put out over the past couple of years.

At this point, I am truly wondering if all of what SZA has been releasing over the past couple of years will even make the album. She seems the type to be like ‘Fuck it’ and just cull songs if she’s not feeling them in the moment, they no longer really reflect her in any way, or she feels they no longer work with where she’s at personally and musically. She’s such a damn Scorpio, and I dig it. I wish more artists were like this when it came to their music. Not every single has to be on an album. Sometimes a single can just be a single. And some songs are just great singles, but don’t work on albums. And that’s that.
