When NewJeans dropped “Ditto”, that shit went all types of viral. The song had (and STILL has, at time of writing) folk from all reaches singing its praises. And given the club sound that “Ditto” adopts, I guess it was only natural that the song would get flipped and remixed to hell.
There are A LOT of unofficial remixes of “Ditto”. But I’ve managed to pull together the few that caught my attention.
Each of these remixes focuses on a specific club sound and era in time, and they all work incredibly well with the song. The Jenn Remix is probably my fave of the bunch, transforming “Ditto” into a Liz, PC Music-esque hyperpop song. But the “My Boo” sampling Sleepy Sheep remix would go in the clubs and burn up radio. The Scripta Remix gets my shoulders bouncing with its Jersey Club spin. And the Tama Rhodes remix is just a vibe.
K-pop isn’t really a market that’s big on remixes. Then again, remixes across every market don’t feel as prominent as they were in the 90s, when literally every single got remixed. But we’re slowly seeing that change as we see a resurgence in remix albums. And because of the Internet and talented folk having access to it; when official remixes don’t get commissioned, we at least get to enjoy some fanmade ones instead. Major labels really need to start commissioning fanmade remixes, because some of them are truly amazing.
