Perfume release the music video for “Cosmic Treat”. And the Cosmic Treat is not Space Funk. It’s guns.

So... That dramatic ass teaser trailer that Perfume released a few weeks ago? The one that had us thinking ‘Wait. Are we getting a film!?’. It was comprised of scenes from the “Cosmic Treat” music video.

As soon as I realised what Perfume had done, I burst out laughing.

We got Punk’d. We got Beyoncé’d. Mr. Mic is the visual, baby. Well played Perfume. Well played.

We can’t blame Team Perfume for fans jumping to conclusions. But Team Perfume knew exactly what they were doing and that fans would be like ‘THERE’S A FILM!?’. Those pesky scoundrels. But shout-outs to them, because they really got us. Not only did I not think the Nebula Romance: Part 1 teaser trailer was footage from the “Cosmic Treat” music video. But I did not expect the “Cosmic Treat” video to feature what it did. Kudos for everybody. And it’s so nice to see that it paid off for a good music video. “Cosmic Treat” is such a fun watch. It’s one of the best music videos Perfume has released in a LONG while. It’s like Team Perfume finally got their groove back with the music videos, and with a song which is actually good.

I was fully expecting the entire video for “Cosmic Treat” to just be Perfume performing the song on the Mr. Mic Show and NOTHING else. But we got Kashiyuka on a date, a-chan as a lesbian, Nocchi as a bad bitch with a grenade launcher, and Pewfume killing people like Terminators. Everybody at that “Cling Cling” market? Dead.

It is a shame that after the amazing choreography we got for “Ima Ima Ima”, that the choreo for “Cosmic Treat” is a bit of a let down. Maybe I’ll feel differently about it when I see it in full, as there’s a lot of it that we didn’t get to see. I really wish Perfume were performing with white guns instead of microphones, but there’s no way Japanese networks would allow Perfume to perform with guns—which would make it all the more scandalous and controversial.
