Happy Birthday Queen B!

Beyoncé in Marie ClareIt was Queen Beyoncé's 2 days ago. 27 years since she was assembled and had her 'shut the game down' program loaded into her my Mathew and Tina Knowles. Beyoncé did a new shoot for Marie Clare magazine to commemorate the occassion, in which she looked SMOKING! She looks air brushed the f**k out, but she still looks hot.

There's a lot of hype and anticipation building around Beyonce's forthcoming third solo studio album. There's no word on when it will release, but given Keri Hilson, Monica, Ciara and Brandy have albums out by the end of the year - Beyoncé will undoubtedly want to crush as many bitches hopes of hitting that number 1 spot as possible. I just hope my girl Brandy doesn't suffer the blow. Because if Beyoncé's album is indeed releasing in November, then Brandy is in trouble - and no exclusive appearance on Oprah on the run up to the release will help her.

Happy birthday Beyoncé!

  1. Brandy is so much better than Beyonce, it's not even a contest.

But sadly, Beyonce would get more sales than Brandy if her album did come out in November.

  3. They're music isn't so different that they're not comparable. It's not like I'm comparing rock to rap. On the musical side, Brandy is above and beyond better. Beyonce obvious has her on the performance side.

  4. Couldn't have said it better myself Ralph!

You can't compare Brandy and Beyoncé. Not only are they different in every way - but they serve up different things. I love them both and for different reasons.

I look to Beyoncé because I love her live performances: she's so electric and sounds brilliant live. I also love how frenetic her music can be. And of course, that amazing voice of hers.

I look to Brandy for those albums that I can play from start to finish and continue playing years after they release. And because I can always rely on her to come with music that is just good music and isn't following any trend or bandwagon. And also her rich and husky voice, which I absolutely LOVE!

I'm looking forward to both Beyoncé and Brandy's albums - but I'm anticipating Brandy's more. Both of Beyonce's solo albums were just okay to me, so I'm not expecting anything amazing from her. Where-as Brandy, I know 150% that she's going to come correct. That 1 minute+ snippet of "2nd thought" craps all over the whole of B'Day. *LOL*

  5. Well in that case, you can't compare Brandy to anybody, because nobody in the game sounds like her.

I'm not comparing their voices, because they're not comparable. But I don't what's wrong with saying I like Brandy better.

  6. You're comparing 2 artists who are completely different. It's not like comparing Mariah and Whitney, or Cassie and Rihanna. Brandy and Beyonce are in 2 different lanes. They always have been and always will be. Every aspect of how they handle their music, their images and careers is so different. So you can't really compare them outright. You may as well compare Brandy to Madonna. The only thing Brandy and Beyoncé have in common is that their names start with B, they're both black and they both do R&B.

You prefer Brandy, which is fine. I can understand why. But you can't make a throwaway comment like "Brandy is so much better than Beyoncé, it's not even a contest", as though it's a fact and Beyoncé doesn't have mad talent.

I don't see the 2 of them have to be compared in the first place to be honest. They're both good at what they do.

  7. I wasn't saying Beyonce doesn't have talent, that would be stupid. I already said she's a great performer. But I would take listening to Brandy over watching Beyonce perform any day...even if Beyonce is fine as hell!

There's just never been a song Beyonce has done that has made me want to listen to it like a ton of Brandy songs out there. I can't tell you how many times I've listened to "Fall" and "Right Here (Departed)" over the past few days, lol. Oh and "The List"...thank God you introduced me to that song!!!

It came off as disrespect, but I just like Brandy's craft more than Beyonce's.
