Music video: Perfume's meticulously edited masterpiece "Display", now available in 4K | Random J Pop

The Perfume records has uploaded the short edit of "Display" to Perfume's official YouTube video, but team Panasonic went one better and uploaded the 4K version of the music video to theirs.

With this song and video being tied in with Panasonic's new range of HDTV's, and the editing being such a beast, that there was never any doubt that this was shot in 4K. Full screen this bitch and behold. It's a beauty.

The music video for "Cling, cling" is going to have to feature the emancipation of Kashiyuka's forehead, Nocchi with a ponytail,  A-chan in a dress which actually looks flattering and be shot in 4K and 3D to be on a level with to touch the 1 minute and 32 seconds of realness that "Display" has bestowed the Prfm fandom with over the past couple of weeks.

  1. Makes me wanna buy a Panasonic 4K television screen! Lemme look up this thing and… *sees price* Nope, I'll stick with my 1080 screen and whoring the hell out of the YouTube preview…

  2. So.........why when it was Nocchi's turn to go solo in the chorus, A-Chan on her back piggy back the whole entire time when Nocchi has the best and most distinct voice when manipulated? I can't.

And I'm just trying to figure out who is singing what in the beginning with all the "OoooOooOoooohs" and then what they're saying in the middle of all the "Oooohs".

    ReplyDelete
  3. Because it wasn't Nocchi's turn to go solo, they were singing together… BTW, when you say "best", does that still mean the same thing as the rest of the world uses it? Because Nocchi's voice is distinctive, yes, but it's hardly the best of the three…

    ReplyDelete
  4. Nah... Sorry, but I'm with InnerRise on this one. Nocchi got shafted in this preview completely. Both A-chan and Kashiyuka got solo parts, Nocchi didn't. They also both got 3 different variations of hair styles. Nocchi didn't.

Vocally, A-chan is the best singer in the group. Her voice tends to suit every type of song and she genuinely can sing. But there are certain songs where Nocchi's voice makes shit work to a point where it wouldn't have done had her sections been switched with either of the other girls. i.e "Dream fighter". Nocchi owns that intro, both of her verses and makes the chorus pop by being the dominant vocal on it.

As for the ♪ OoooWooooWoooo ♪, I think it's all 3 of the girls singing that part together, but A-chan vocals sound the most prominent. As for what their singing in-between... ♪ Feelings through my world ♪? *shrugs*

  5. In news that ACTUALLY matters, Queen Namiserable the First sold 104, 052 copies of her BALLADA compilation in its original 24 hours on store shelves and slays for the Oricon Daily Albums #1 spot; EASILY outsold the Top 3 and by all accounts, the Top 10 contenders of said chart combined. Every other soloist's wig and weaves are no longer safe for the year-end ranks, Ayu and Pamyu included, because we who aren't inflicted with tinnitus know that their new s*** doesn't and won't even hold candles to Namie's back catalogue...

    *ahem*

Well damn, Namie... I was over here throwin' shade about you releasing a ballad best of album (which I still think is stupid), but you done bukkaked the entirety of the competition with your poorly sung ballads, so you go boo!! You fuckin' go!

Bonus - the ballad version of Contrail is actually really nice

  7. Second day sales are in and BALLADA snatched up 48,969 more wigs on the Orcon track! 153,021 smacks sold, and btw, not all of her ballads are poorly sung, they've actually improved in memorability and vocal finesse from when she was a teenager; and taken as a whole, they still run well defined circles around any nonsense Ayu or Koda squeal out these days....every other major J-Pop act has done some sort of similar compilation so why not capitalize on the monopoly of BEST FICTION & CHECKMATE!, the former of which did better than any of ger studio albums save SWEET 19 BLUES. The only exception to this trend of milking is Hiiki-chan, though that 5 song EP she attached to her second greatest hits album could designate as 1. We know her s*** is in a category and quality beyond mortal apprehension though, so its the exception that defies the status quo rather than justifying it for mere commercial returns!

i got confused with that too! and i was like "whoah nocchi" at first, and then i notice a chan moving her mouth behind her....
i think mainstream nocchi vocals are kind of generic in comparison with kashiyuka's (very distinct) and a-chan's (so versatile)! so a-chan gave that oomph i guess:P

plus nocchi did that nasal thing that makes her voice distinct at the end of that lyric ("-lalala..no")

  13. Can someone please get Noochi a hairstyle change because I can no longer tolerate that middle aged house wife part in her hair. I'm all about the bob with the side bang from the Game era. Noochi must be slacking on her dome game with Nakata; not only is she getting minimal lines in songs, but they ain't bothering to switch her style up neither.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Callie Jocelyne7 June 2014 at 09:54

They gotta keep the Robohoes in line. When Nakata giveth, he taketh away. A~chan can actually sing, put her in ugly dresses and keep her humble. Keep Nocchi's sexy legs and hip rolls in check with the chastity belt that is the "Mom Bob". And Kashiyuka's forehead is chained like Jaime Foxx in Django. Nakata and the Perfume team do not play with these biddies.

    ReplyDelete
  15. thats because nocchi cannot sing. she's more visual and the prettiest out of the three in my opinion. i'd stick her as lead in a video anyday -- but i wouldn't want her singing an entire verse by herself.

Like...did they just take the foam padding out of the shoulders from that look and tell her "Until you get your act together, you gonna wear lowkey JPN throwbacks"?

Nocchi getting treated like a redheaded step child......smdh

  18. Ability to sing isn't even a factor in this discussion in a world where every essence of them is vocoded so once again, the line should have been NOCCHI'S, her vocoded voice is very distinct, particular and most appealing out of the 3.

And everybody talking about singing ability has NO CREDIBILITY whatsoever in this house when Kashiyuka is over there in the corner even going when da fuq did she start giving vocal life with her kiddy as fuq playpen attempts at a melody. She sounds like a victim.

I don't remember any complaints from their game era where NOCCHI actually did have her own lines. Polyrhythm? Yah. Perfect. She killed it, you and me. So please. Fall out of the bandwagon, onto some tracks and get ran over. The world didn't end then, somehow it wouldn't have ended now. And you would be saying NOTHING had A-chan fell her silly arse back and shut da fuq up.

  19. Let's hope she can make another 21,477 sales on the Sunday... then she will have beaten her previous album's first week sales. Although this still isn't good enough to match Past Future or Uncontrolled (An exception being her 20th Anniversary). But this is a best album, which can't even compare to the first week sales of her last best album, Best Fiction, which nearly broke 700,000 in its first week. I left out Checkmate! but that doesn't count right...?

  30. Oh and Also another example of J-pop not being relevent anymore, Little Mix a UK girl group did a Korean and japanese verson of their song:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqzPZGSr3N4

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhPN29Yo78o

You know which version got more mainstream attention:

That's right, the Korean got more mainstream attention, the Japanese got no attention at all. What does that tell you: Nobody gives a crap about J-pop today, it's all about K-pop and Taiwanese Pop/C-pop will follow after that. J-music doesn't get a lot of attention today like they did in the past.

I'll say this: nobody gives a fucking shit about Japan or J-pop anymore (and I say this as a anime fan). I'm sorry J-pop is either dead or dying if K-pop continue to win more audiences, and Taiwanese pop will follow after.

  31. Let me show you something that J-pop was never able to do:

    http://www.billboard.com/files/media/kpop_concerts_infographic_mymusictaste.jpg

I never seen J-pop doing this. Why: because J-pop artists don't give a shit about their international fans when K-pop artists/idols take their international fans seriously. So I dare you to find a good evidence countering this.

Why are you following me? Also the J-pop music market is worth USD$4.5 billion, it doesn't have to prove anything.

  33. starlightshimmers1 July 2014 at 19:19

J-pop will always be relevant in the world music industry because it dominates the Japanese music industry, one of the largest in the world. Again, your argument does little to discredit the hard data.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yes, J-Pop stopped being relevant by overtaking the UK as the biggest consumer of physical music products (full-length LPs & singles) in the last half decade only behind the U.S.; and #1 for singles since all the digital outlets and sales have no accounting in their Oricon chart rankings. Please stop your blind stanning like Korea is any way more relevant or superior to anything Japan has or is doing but especially in pop music; there isn't an act alive ormactove in the former that can't be matched and surpassed by 10 or more in the latter...

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh, but it is. Outside of Boa, Rain, G-Dragon and Se7en along with a few token others there isn't a single Korean pop act that has had a hit single or album anywhere outside of Asia or isn't worth listening to more than twice if THAT much. And that's only since this Korean Hallyu wave that's started in the last few decades. That's becuase they had NOTHING that can be remotely considered music before that time that wasn't classical or traditional instrumental stuff that's culturally based.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Its not even so much that but so much of the K-Pop compositions and "singing" sounds so awful, like as in "how the hell did they make it beyond a local karaoke bar?"

    ReplyDelete
  37. Bull. Also shit. Anybody stupid enough to make this argument is obviously unaware that Japan in the third now second largest consumer and revenue generator of recorded music on the planet between the U.S. & UK, where most fans believe only the genres and acts they listen to are the only 1's in the universe. Name a K-pop act that has a hit single or album outside of Asia, unlike Kyu Sakamoto (with Sukiyaki), and to a lesser extent Utada Hikaru and Seiko Matsuda. Or been featured on Rolling Stone USA's front cover (Kenji Sawada). You obviously skipped the rather extended world tours of Perfume, Ken Hirai, Namie Amuro, Ayumi Hamasaki, GLAY, L'arc-en-ciel, Utada, Jin Akanishi, and more than need be listed here, just ya' know, GOOGLE and actually enlighten yourself. When a Kpop album can sell better than 10,000-200,000 units on average ( when Utada Hikaru's FIRST LOVE remains the all-time best-seller at 7.6 million for Japan) let us know...
