JoJo has been giving us regular updates on new material over the past couple of years, and no doubt fans were wondering if they'd ever hear it, because of...*cough* Previous situations.
But that time has come, and JoJo has put "Joanna" out into the world. A song in which JoJo has a very real conversation with herself about her self doubts. It's real as hell. And for this to drop around world mental health day!?
Gurl.
I absolutely adore this song. Fans won't be surprised at what JoJo is speaking of here, as she's always been very candid about her feelings in regard to her career and the setbacks that she's faced throughout it. But that doesn't make "Joanna any less of a stinger. Because the same doubts that JoJo has, are things that have been put to her by other people. And not just haters, but fans too. Which just compounds the doubt and makes it worse, because you get in your own head and think 'WELL, IF THEY THINK THAT TOO'.
JoJo is speaking to a set of situations and circumstances which are very much hers. But the sentiment of the song and where it's rooted is universal for all.
So many of us question ourselves, compare ourselves to others and beat ourselves up over not accomplishing what we'd hoped. We become so completely absorbed in our own feelings of self doubt, what we don't have, and things we've lost, that we stop ourselves from moving forward.
And speaking to JoJo's personal situation as a star who at one point seemed to have it all with more to come, then lost it all through no fault of her own - shes part of an industry in a world where this happens all too often. But the fact that JoJo is still here!? The fact we all still here?! It's just-
"Joanna"'s running time of 2 minutes and 8 seconds makes me wonder if this is the intro to her upcoming album, which is still untitled at time of writing, but should so be called Joanna. People will talk out the side of their mouth that she's copying Gaga. But, whatever.
JoJo will be releasing a new song on October 25th titled "Sabotage" which features Chika. I'mma assume that this will be the official lead single from her upcoming album.
We know for sure an album is coming, but we still don't know when. And with Christmas around the corner and JoJo having let us know she was working on some Christmas material, I'm wondering if we're going to get a Christmas album first, or the follow up to Mad love.
And if JoJo's Mad love follow-up ends up being called Joanna, then her Christmas album so needs to be called Noëlle.
